Dunbar soccer coach sidelined

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Officials with Fayette County Schools confirm that Paul Laurence Dunbar's men's soccer coach has been sidelined following accusations of violations to related to booster and fundraising guidelines.

A letter sent to Todd Bretz from schools announced, "This letter serves as notification that, effective immediately, you are no longer eligible to service in an athletic coaching role with Fayette County Public Schools. This decisions is a result of the substantiation of multiple violations of guidelines Redbook, KHSAA , and Fayette County Public Schools policies in the role of Head Soccer Coach and PL Dunbar High School."

A Fayette County School official would not issue a comment on the situation to LEX 18, but did forward copies of checks written from the Booster Club checking account to Bretz and other coaches dating back to 2003.

FCPS spokesperson Lisa Deffendal tells LEX 18 that the school will not comment on personnel matters.
