LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Fayette County plans to add two more in-person polling locations to better serve local voters this November, Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins said Monday.

The locations will be:

  • Wellington Elementary, 3280 Keithshire Way
  • Garrett Morgan Elementary, 1150 Passage Mound Way

The new locations are in addition to the following polling locations announced last month:

  • Tates Creek Branch Library, 3628 Walden Dr.
  • Northside Branch Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road
  • Beaumont Branch Library, 3080 Fieldstone Way
  • Dunbar Center, 545 N. Upper St.
  • Lexington Senior Center, 195 Life Lane
  • BCTC Leestown Campus, 164 Opportunity Way

Blevins said there will be three ways to vote this fall: early in-person, in-person on Election Day, or by absentee voting.

Blevins said every voter can qualify for absentee voting this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be six drop-off locations available for voters to drop off their absentee ballots:

  • Tates Creek Branch Library, 3628 Walden Dr.
  • Northside Branch Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road
  • Beaumont Branch Library, 3080 Fieldstone Way
  • Lexington Senior Center, 195 Life Lane
  • Fayette County Clerk’s Office, 162 East Main St.
  • One location to be announced at a later date

Voters can still cast their absentee ballot by mail, but Blevins said that the drop boxes will be a good way to take some of the load off of the United States Postal Service this election season

Voters must apply for an absentee ballot by Oct. 9.

The polling locations will be open for early voting from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday from Oct. 13 through Nov. 2; and from and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays during that same time frame.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day.

Monday is the last day to register to vote.
