LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Amy McGrath responded in a tweet to a challenge from Sen. Mitch McConnell's campaign team Wednesday, saying she would be eager for an opportunity to debate the Senate majority leader.
Hey Team Mitch, We’re eager to hold your boss accountable for his 36 years of failed leadership. @senatemajldr if you’re serious about debating DM me instead of hiding behind the press. https://t.co/Gmgz9JJg3Z

McConnell challenged McGrath in a letter Wednesday morning to a "Lincoln-Douglas-style" debate with "no notes at the table, no props, and no audience."
McConnell stressed the importance of holding a debate with a statewide reach between the two candidates, and laid out a framework under which the debate can take place.
"This would be a debate just between the two of us," McConnell's letter read. "Kentuckians deserve clear answers from each of us on the issues that matter most, and this is the best format to deliver those answers."
