LEE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The family and friends of a pregnant Lee County woman are taking to social media to show support and fundraise after she was shot Friday.

Skyler Reese underwent surgery at University of Kentucky Medical Center after she was found shot in the head at a home on Mays Subdivision Road in Beattyville Friday, according to Lee County Deputy Sheriff Jacob Sparks.

Logan Biggs, 20, Reese's boyfriend, was arrested Saturday morning and charged with first degree assault in connection to the shooting, Sparks said.

A high school friend of Reese's, Makala Day, is one of a group of people who have put together fundraisers on social media to help with medical expenses and to support the family going forward.

She's taking orders for shirts with the hashtag "Skyler Strong," with proceeds going to Reese.

"I know if something like that were to happen to me she would be right on it trying to do everything she could do," Day said.

Day said Saturday evening she had heard from family members that Reese and her baby were stable but had a long road to recovery ahead.

"She's a miracle already so I feel like more great things will come along with her recovery," she said.
