UPDATE: March 7 at 6:15 a.m.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the fatal collision that happened on Highway 555 early Thursday morning in Washington County.

KSP reports that a preliminary investigation shows that "56-year-old James Drury was traveling south on Highway 555 in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler when he lost control of his vehicle due to ice on the roadway at a bridge crossing." As a result, KSP says that "Drury struck the bridge's guardrail several times, damaging his vehicle's steering, causing him to cross the centerline into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with 26-year-old David Waldridge who was driving a 2020 Ford F-150."

According to KSP, Drury was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner.

Waldridge and a passenger, 32-year-old Dustin Pulley, in the Ford F-150 sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to KSP.
