The free trash disposal will be for non-hazardous household waste only. The free trash disposal has been set to run on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fayette County residents can go to the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station on Old Frankfort Pike and dispose of, up to, one pickup truck load of non-hazardous household waste.

Items that are normally serviced during Lexington's curbside collection program will be accepted.

Construction and demolition debris, as well as yard waste and large outdoor items, will be accepted at the regular gate rate. These items do not qualify for the free disposal day.

Read below for the guidelines surrounding the free disposal day:

  • Must have valid Fayette County drivers license
  • All loads must fit in a standard truck bed

  • No commercial vehicles
  • All loads will be subject to inspection

Items that will be accepted for free include mattresses, box springs, bagged household waste, small indoor household furniture and up to four tires off the rim.

Items that will be accepted, but will cost, include any material that doesn't come from inside a household, like grills and electronics, tire rims, yard waste, construction and demolition debris, building material outdoor sheds and water hoses.

Items that will not be accepted at any time include hazardous materials, free-flowing liquids and medical waste.

Appliances can be taken to the Environmental Recycling Inc. on Winchester Road, where they will not charge.
