MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A former deputy jailer pleaded guilty to abusing a puppy and has been ordered to spend two-and-a-half years in jail.

32-year-old Jayce Bryant pleaded guilty to animal torture back in October and admitted to taping the dog's mouth shut.

Deputies who found the dog wandering around said there was also evidence that the dog's legs had been taped together.

The dog's broken tail had to be amputated.

The puppy, who has been named Hero, has made a full recovery and is in a new home.
