UPDATE: March 25 at 10:00 a.m.
The Georgetown Police Department reports that the two children who went missing on Monday evening have been found safe.
Georgetown Police wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, "Thank you to our community for your quick response, shares, and assistance. Your support played an important role in bringing this situation to a safe resolution."
According to Georgetown Police Assistant Chief Josh Nash, the person who the kids were found with is currently not being charged, but the Georgetown Police Department is investigating the reason why the kids went missing. That investigation could potentially lead to charges in the future.
"When we have missing juveniles, we want to know why," Nash said. "It's our responsibility to make sure that no one violated the law… if they did violate the law then it's our responsibility to uh put the facts together and present that to the court system with criminal charges."
During the search, Nash said the community was a big asset through social media and anonymous tips.
"We understand people don't wanna get involved in some of these things, but they might have good information. We need the information and we wanna keep your name out of it, but we do appreciate the help of the community and this was a good example of how Facebook was used to get that information to the right people and locate these kids and get them home safe."
