BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WAVE/LEX 18) — A mother is asking for help after her husband accidentally donated her wedding dress to Goodwill.

Kayla Alvey realized her wedding dress was missing earlier this week.

Alvey got married in 2015. Since then, Alvey and her husband have added two sons to the family and have moved to a new home. During the process, the garage began to collect miscellaneous items.

"My husband had set aside what he thought were table cloths, but wasn't positive," Alvey told WAVE.

Her husband took a trip to Goodwill with some items from their wedding and didn't realize one of the trash bags was not full of table cloths, but his wife's wedding dress.

"He feels horrible," Alvey said while laughing about the situation.

After a trip to Goodwill without any luck, she is desperate to have it back because to her, it is more than just a dress.

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2019; I had a mastectomy in March of 2019,” Alvey said.

“So the dress is kind of the last thing I was able to wear that was form-fitting and myself. Just having that dress is a keepsake from the day.”

"I hope somebody has just purchased the dress," Alvey said.

"If they have, by all means wear the dress. Its a beautiful dress, I just want it back in the long run."
