GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Graves County jury has recommended 40 years in prison for a man found guilty of multiple counts of child rape and sodomy.

David Sims III was convicted following a three day trial in November.

The case began when the victim, who was 16 at the time, reported being sexually abused by him.

That abuse had reportedly been ongoing since the victim was 9-years-old.

Sims was found guilty of six counts of rape and two counts of sodomy.

Sims will now have to serve at least 20 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
