SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The co-owners of Kentucky Downs in Franklin hope to cash in with a $25 million expansion once they unveil the project at the Simpson County Track.
The recent groundbreaking at Kentucky Downs marks a new era for the entertainment complex.
The expansion will include several renovations, plus an additional 18,000 square foot building with new gaming, food and entertainment options.
City leaders hope it will be a boom for the local economy.
This is the largest construction project in the racetrack's history and they anticipate increasing the area workforce by 20 percent.
