CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A woman has been arrested in connection to a Clay County homicide.
On Saturday around 3:30 a.m., Kentucky State Police was notified of a deceased male near Crawfish Road in Clay County.
KSP identified the victim as 77-year-old Rufus L. Smallwood Jr. of Manchester. Smallwood was reported missing on January 5.
Police say the victim had visible injuries that suggested foul play.
Smallwood was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
44-year-old John L. Couch was arrested after an investigation and charged with murder and robbery.
Couch is being held at the Clay County Detention Center.
This is an ongoing investigation.
