Kentucky State Police investigating murder-suicide at Bracken County gas station

BROOKSVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred Monday morning at a Bracken County gas station.

KSP said it received a request for assistance at about 1:20 a.m. after two men were found with fatal gunshot wounds at the 1st Stop gas station in Brooksville.

A preliminary investigation revealed that one of the victims was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an unidentified woman. Police said a man approached the vehicle was it was parked on the 200 block of Frankfort Street and fired several shots, hitting the man in the passenger’s seat. The approaching man then pointed and fired the handgun at himself.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Bracken County Coroner. The woman was not injured.

KSP said autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday to identify the two men.

Detectives are working to determine the cause surrounding the incident.
