CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police Post 5 reported that they have received multiple calls from registered sex offenders who claim they are receiving phone call scams.
According to police, the phone calls are scams for money.
Those receiving the calls are on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry and said the scammers are telling them they missed a court date.
Police reported that, later in the conversation, the caller will tell them that they owe money and they can pay it over the phone.
Some individuals have been told to report to Post 5 for an ankle monitor.
According to police, these calls are scammers that are trying to take advantage of these individuals.
