Coroner identifies man, woman in Chestnut Street homicide

UPDATE: The Fayette County Coroner's Office has identified 43-year-old Timonte D. Harris and 32-year-old Lakeisha Hill as the victims of a homicide on Chestnut Street.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Lexington police have arrested a man in connection to a homicide that happened Thursday night on Chestnut Street.

Police tell us officers heard gunshots just before 10 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Chestnut Street near East 5th Street.

When officers arrived they say they found two people who had been shot. A woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A man died on the scene. The Fayette County Coroner will release the identity.

Corry Jackson, 37, was arrested in connection with the homicide and shooting. He has been charged with murder, assault 1st degree, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Jackson is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Police have ruled this a homicide. According to police data, there have been three so far in Lexington this year.
