LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — History could be made in Lexington tomorrow night. For the first time, the Legends will play for a championship at home.

The gates open at 6:00 on Thursday night, and first pitch is at 7:05.

They're up 2-0 on the Hickory Crawdads, and with one more win, they'll clinch their second straight South Atlantic League title.

The behind-the-scenes brain trust is always thinking of ways to promote the team, and bring in new fans.

Since this game wasn't even on the schedule until last week, President and CEO Andy Shea and other employees are going door-to-door around the neighborhood, to try and get fans to come out.

"This is all about Lexington, and being in this part of Lexington in partciular, so we want to give back to our neighborhood. So we're going basically door-to-door, business-to-business," said Emma Tiedemann, the director of broadcasting and media relations.

Shea walked up and down the shopping area that shares the parking lot with Whitaker Bank Ballpark, handing out front row seats to a possible championship celebration.

"Having the opportunity to do it here, in front of our fans, at our home, with everything that we have set up, I mean, it is 100 layers of excitement added on to last years," said Shea.

Hoping to go for back-to-back championships in front of a packed house.
