LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Fayette County Public Schools bus garage where at least 17 employees tested positive for COVID-19 and one died is under review by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
OSHA opened the investigation into the bus garage located on Miles Point Way on April 10. Few details are provided in the report found on OSHA’s database.
“While we cannot comment on an open investigation, it is important to note that Fayette County Public Schools initiated the Occupational Safety and Health Administration review by self-reporting the loss of our employee,” said FCPS district spokesperson Lisa Deffendall.
USA Today reported Friday OSHA is conducting 192 COVID-19-related inspections, including the one at the Miles Point bus garage.
LEX 18 contacted the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program Friday to find out if employee complaints contributed to the agency’s decision to investigate the bus garage, but have not received a response.
The bus garage located on Liberty Road is not under review.
