LEX 18 receives 911 calls from Lincoln County gas explosion

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — As the Lincoln County community continues to recover from a deadly gas explosion that happened on August 1, LEX 18 is now hearing the 911 calls for the first time.

Thousands of calls flooded into the Lincoln County dispatch from people reporting a fireball in the sky.

Flames nearly 300 feet tall lit up the sky and could be seen from miles away.

First responders from all over rushed in to help and while the firefighters put out several fires, the homes at Indian Camp were evacuated.

Enbridge, the company that owns the pipeline, is in the process of replacing the pipeline that exploded.

The assessment of the condition of two pipelines nearby is ongoing.
