LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington man has been taken to jail after being accused of setting fires at a home that were stopped by the resident's dog.
Police and fire crews were called to an address on Coriander Lane on Wednesday night.
Officials said they found at least two fires set on the exterior of the home and another fire at the fence.
The fires were quickly discovered by the residents, when their dog began barking and then chased away someone in the backyard when let outside.
Police later found Derek Martin, 34, in a neighbor's yard.
Martin was arrested at the time on multiple outstanding warrants, but has since been charged with arson for allegedly setting the fires.
Martin is being held on a $25,000 bond.
