LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington man has been taken to jail after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend.

Damien Thruston, 37, has been charged with assault in the second degree.

An arrest warrant indicated that his girlfriend accused him of hitting her with the buckle end of a leather belt approximately 20 times.

Police said the woman had welts and swelling from her shoulders to her forearms. The woman also told police that Thruston had hit her with the belt buckle in the left leg, which caused swelling.

Thruston has been held on a $5,000 bond.
