LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington Parking Authority (LPA) announced on Monday that it will convert several paid parking spaces into “Curbside Pick-Up ONLY” spaces. This is an effort to support local restaurants and merchants in the downtown and Chevy Chase.

During his Monday morning press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear issued an order to close restaurants and bars to in-person traffic amid the coronavirus outbreak. Delivery, drive-thru and pick-up orders can still be utilized.

"I'm going to put out the order today to close all restaurants and bars to in-person traffic," said Beshear. "We are going to have exceptions in there for drive-thru, for delivery - but we are to the point now where this is a step we have to take."

Restaurants and merchants are encouraged to reach out to the LEXPARK customer service center at (859) 231-7275 or at info@lexpark.org to request a nearby meter to be converted for this use.

“While supplies last, the LPA will make every effort to create these opportunities for some level of business to continue under these current circumstances,” CAPP Executive Director Gary A. Means said.

Customer’s utilizing this service should look for a meter covered with the blue LPA bag (image attached) or a sign stating Curbside Pick-Up ONLY.
