PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington woman has been sentenced for her part in allegedly stabbing and beating a man after breaking into his Pike County home.

The Commonwealth attorney said that 45-year-old Tonia Caldwell broke into Tom Varney's home in Forest Hills, alongside an unnamed female juvenile.

According to the attorney, they beat Varney with a crowbar and stabbed him repeatedly.

LEX 18 was told that the emergency room doctor, who testified, said, "Basically, his guts were coming out," regarding Varney's wounds.

Despite this, Varney did survive.

Caldwell was reportedly given a 10-year prison sentence on a first degree assault charge.
