LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington may be hours away from Nashville, Tennessee, but that didn't stop one local business from helping people affected by last week's tornadoes.

Stuttgart Motors on West Main Street held a donation drive Sunday, collecting bottled water, canned goods, cleaning supplies and other items. Some people even donated money if they weren't able to bring in supplies.

Shawn Leonard, one of the owners, has family in Tennessee and while he says they're okay, the auto shop wanted to do something for those who weren't so lucky.

"What we can do today with the help of all of our citizens here, we can definitely try to get at least a little something to help relieve it a little bit for them, if it all helps. We got to try,” said Leonard.

The business partnered with Kentucky First Responders, a group that will bring the donations to the Nashville area this week.
