LEXINGTON, KY- — It's a great day to be a Pioneer, as both of Transylvania's basketball teams will take part in the NCAA tournament.
Transylvania's men's basketball team defeated Rose-Hulman 49-48 to give them the HCAC conference championship, in addition to the regular season title.
It's never easy to win a championship game when you shoot 28% from the floor, but Transy was able to get the job done.
Michael Jefferson was named MVP, leading the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds. They will head to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013.
The women's team defeated Hanover 91-61 to win the HCAC tournament. The Pioneers were led by Zenoviah Walker's 22 points.
