LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — DNA from previously untested items in a 1990 rape kit have led police to make an arrest in Louisville.
Police said that Roscoe Smith has been accused of forcing his way into a Louisville woman's home in December 1990.
A rape kit was performed at a hospital after the alleged incident.
An arrest citation shows that the woman requested last summer that the case be reopened.
Two untested items from the rape kit were found and sent to a crime lab for testing.
Police said the testing confirmed that the DNA allegedly belonged to Smith.
He was arrested last week and has been faced with multiple charges.
