COLUMBIA, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man from Columbia has been sentenced to 23 and a half years in prison, according to Kentucky State Police.

On Tuesday, August 27, Joshua David Gayde, 36, was in court at Adair Circuit Court and was sentenced after entering a guilty plea to nine charges.

Those charges, according to police, involved sex crimes against a minor child that occurred between January 2014 and December 2017. It was reported by KSP earlier on Tuesday that the crimes occurred in 2019, but they sent a correction Tuesday afternoon.

Gayde plead guilty to four counts of first degree rape involving a child under 12-years-old, according to police. He also plead guilty to five counts of first degree sexual abuse involving a child under 12-years-old.

Gayde took a plea and will serve 23 and a half years in the state penitentiary. When released from prison, Gayde will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender on the Kentucky State Sex Offender Registry, according to police.
