LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The trial for a man suspected of murder in Lexington is scheduled to started on Monday.
Chase Helvey has been charged with murder, assault, kidnapping and evidence tampering in connection with what originally was a crash investigation on Maxwelton Court back in 2018.
The driver, 36-year-old James Potter, died and the coroner concluded that he was shot before the crash.
According to Helvey's arrest citation, prior to what happened, Helvey attacked Potter's female passenger with a wooden object and a blow torch.
