(LEX 18) — A former soviet navy captain who threw a bottle containing a letter into the ocean in 1969 said he was "amazed" to think where it had been after it was recently discovered in Western Alaska.
Anatolii Botsanenko was 36-years-old and serving in the soviet navy in Vladivostok when he threw the bottle containing a message into the sea.
The message included an address and a request for a response from the person who found it.
Tyler Ivanoff eventually found the handwritten Russian letter in early August while gathering firewood near Shishmaref about 600 miles northwest of Anchorage.
