WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — LEX 18 has confirmed that the Whitley County man charged with murdering his girlfriend back in May has been indicted by a grand jury.
Nicholas Rucker is accused of killing his girlfriend, Vicki Conner, at a home in Woodbine back in May.
Then, Rucker went on the run for about six weeks before he was arrested.
The Whitley County Circuit Court Clerk's Office said that the grand jury returned an indictment on three charges: murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
In an interview with LEX 18 last month, Rucker said Vicki Conner killed herself and that he ran because of his record as a convicted felon.
Rucker pleaded not guilty in court on Monday. The Commonwealth's attorney said that he will be pursuing the death penalty.
The next court date has been scheduled for November. The Commonwealth's attorney said he will be appointed special counsel due to the death penalty and that will give him time to get an attorney.
