Officer suffers injuries after flipping SUV during chase

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Middlesboro police officer suffered minor injuries after flipping his SUV during a chase.

The wreck happened on Monday on Highway 441 in Bell County near Airport Road.

Police told WRIL that Lt. Floyd Patterson lost control of the SUV when a cyclist darted out in front of him and he swerved off the road.

The Ford Explorer flipped and hit a utility pole, then came to a rest on its top. Patterson was taken the the Middlesboro Hospital with minor injuries.

There is no word about why the chase started or how it ended.
