Transportation officials are urging drivers to avoid Interstate 71 in Gallatin County.
All northbound lanes are closed beginning at mile marker 62 due to multiple crashes. Traffic is backed up for at least five miles.
Officials say I-71 southbound has slow-moving traffic and traffic has stalled on and off throughout the day in both directions of I-71 due to disabled vehicles and wrecks.
