According to WAVE, a handgun was found at a Jefferson County Public School on Friday.
The gun was found during a search at Ballard High School. The gun was located in a student's vehicle, according to WAVE.
Parents found out about the gun through a letter that was sent home by Ballard principal Jason Nuess.
WAVE reported that, as of Friday afternoon, the name of the student has not been released.
Dwight Mitchell, the spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police Department, said that officers were called to assist but JCPS is handling the investigation.
