CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two Clark County parents have been charged with abuse after their 3-month-old child was hospitalized with broken bones.
The Winchester Sun reported that the 17-year-old father and the 19-year-old mother, Shelby Barnett, were arrested last week by police.
The father was charged with assault. And both parents were charged with criminal abuse.
The Winchester Police chief told the Winchester Sun that social workers called them after the infant was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital with several recent, and healing, fractures.
The chief said the injuries were consistent with the child being shaken.
The Winchester Sun reported that the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The child is now in state custody.
