GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Georgetown Police Department reports that several vehicles were damaged after cardboard spike strips were found near the Dan Cummins detail shop.

According to assistant chief Josh Nash, upwards of 15 DIY spike strips were found on Maple Grove Road near the back entrance of of the dealership.

The strips were made with cardboard and screws. Due to the making of the spikes and the strategic placement, Georgetown Police believe the act was targeted at Dan Cummins employees.

Several employees and a Georgetown police officer ended up with flat tires from the spike strips.

Altogether, the damage cost them around $1,500.

"It’s frustrating for the public and I feel for the employees at Dan Cummins. That's money out of their pocket," said Nash.

Police say they are seeking video surveillance in the area, and anyone with information is asked to call 502-863-7820.
