3 arrested in connection with November Chinoe Road shooting

Three people have been arrested in connection to a Nov. 30 shooting on Chinoe Road in Lexington. 35-year-old Gregory Williams of Warren, Michigan died from a gunshot wound following the shooting.

According to Lexington Police, 22-year-old Yas-Ree Collins, 20-year-old Jeremiah Mitchell, and 24-year-old Alexis Compton are facing charges in connection to Williams' homicide.

Collins, who was arrested by Ohio State Highway Patrol on December 6, is facing a complicity to murder charge and is waiting extradition back to Fayette County.

Mitchell was arrested by the US Marshall Service on January 10, and has been charged with murder, four counts of first degree wanton endangerment, and second degree criminal mischief. He is awaiting extradition to Kentucky from Michigan.

Compton was arrested on Wednesday by Lexington Police, and is also facing complicity to murder, among other unrelated charges.

According to the Fayette County Coroner, 35-year-old Gregory Williams of Warren, Michigan died from a gunshot wound around 10:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

The death, ruled a homicide by Lexington Police, remains under investigation.

Lexington Police confirmed a shooting Saturday night has become a homicide investigation.

The shooting happened on Chinoe Road near Alumni Drive around 6:45 p.m.

According to LPD, officers found one man who had been shot.

Just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday, police confirmed that man died from his injuries.

There is still no information regarding any suspects in this investigation.

Lexington Police responded to a call about shots fired around 6:43 p.m. on Saturday in the 1000 block of Chinoe Road.

When they arrived on the scene, police say they found one victim with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to the hospital with a life-threatening injury.

Police say there is no suspect at this time.
