PADUCAH, Ky. (LEX 18) — According to police, a head cheerleading coach in Kentucky has been arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence.

The coach, David Wade, 43, of Paducah, is the head cheer coach at Paducah Tilghman High School.

According to KFVS, police were called to Tilghman High School on Monday morning in response to a group text message that several cheerleaders had received.

School officials said that the cheerleaders reported that the message had an inappropriate video and was from their coach, Wade.

According to KFVS, police found that Wade had deleted the message and also asked the cheerleaders to delete the message.

Police also said that Wade tried to hide his phone.

KFVS reported that Wade admitted to police that he sent the video, but said that it was a mistake to send it to the cheerleaders.

Wade was arrested on Monday and taken to the McCracken County Jail.

KFVS reported that Wade was also an assistant at McNabb Elementary School, according to Paducah schools staff directory.
