LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington man is now facing federal charges for allegedly threatening to turn the VA Center into the "next El Paso."

Scott Greiner, 57, was reportedly speaking to a VA contractor over the phone on August 7, when officials said he became angry about having to call every three months to schedule appointments.

That was when Greiner allegedly told the customer service representative that he would give his local VA Center an "El Paso welcome with one or two M16 rifles."

When questioned about the incident later, Greiner reportedly denied making any threats, but did admit to getting angry, telling the operator: "You don't want this to be another El Paso."

Greiner will appear in federal court for a preliminary hearing on September 3.
