Police: Man arrested after allegedly threatening Bell County dispatchers

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man in Bell County has been arrested after allegedly harassing the Bell County Dispatch employees.

According to police, Charles Lawson, 47, had been calling dispatch several times since 6 a.m. and harassing the dispatchers. Lawson had called so many times, Chief Deputy Doug Jordan obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Police said that before they arrived at Lawson's home, he had threatened to kill dispatchers, Judge Robert Yoakum and several others.

When police tried to arrest Lawson, he would not listen to verbal commands which resulted in police using the taser on him.

Lawson was transported to the Bell County Detention Center and has been charged with the bench warrant for harassing communications and was additionally charged with terroristic threatening in the second degree.

According to police, more charges are pending.
