LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington woman has been charged with abuse and assault for an alleged attack on her grown disabled son.

Penny Lou Rominger, 55, was arrested on Friday.

Police said that Rominger was arguing with her son, who has severe autism and cerebral palsy, when she allegedly threw a wooden flag decoration at him through a glass door.

The glass shattered and reportedly cut his face and arm.

Police said Rominger appeared intoxicated and reportedly admitted to having two drinks.

Rominger has now been charged with abuse, assault and knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult.
