(LEX 18) — Kentucky state senator Danny Carroll has pre-filed a bill that would require schools to report suspected child abuse immediately.
The measure would require anyone with reasonable cause to believe a child has been neglected or abused to report it to local police, state police or state officials.
Attorneys for an alleged abuse victim at McCracken County High School issued a statement saying they support the bill and that not reporting suspected abuse only protects abusers and the school's reputation.
The new legislative session begins Tuesday.
