Record-setting adoption numbers recorded by Kentucky Humane Society

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/LEX 18) — The Kentucky Humane Society reported record-setting numbers in 2019, according to WAVE.

The non-profit confirmed to WAVE that over 6,900 animals were adopted, which has made it the largest adoption year on record for KHS.

More cats than dogs were adopted for the first time in KHS history. More than 1,500 of the 3,400 cats that were adopted in 2019 found homes at the Purrfect Day Cat Café on Bardstown Road in the Highlands.

The Humane Society also reported to WAVE that more cats are being adopted from overcrowded shelters across Kentucky.

Last year, nearly 3,400 dogs and 80 horses from homes through KHS.
