MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Mount Vernon Fire Department says they responded to the area of Big Cave Road and S. Wilderness Road for reports of smoke coming from the railroad tunnel.
According to officials, crews located a cave with smoke pushing out from the entrance.
Officials say the nature of the call suggests people may have been living inside the cave.
According to officials, crews entered the cave and extinguished the fire. No victims were found.
