LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Sayre Christian Village will not allow visitors after multiple cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Kentucky.

The senior living community has no residents with signs or symptoms of COVID-19, according to CEO Karen Venis, but has implemented the policy as a precaution.

"We can’t be too prepared for something like this," Venis said. "Our folks are the ones that are the most vulnerable and it’s our responsibility to keep them safe and keep them healthy."

Service providers will be allowed inside the facility, she said, but will be screened beforehand.

All employees will also be screened daily and residents will have their temperature taken daily, she said.

"We found that was what people really want is communication and so the more we communicate the more we put their minds at ease," Venis said.

A hotline for information about the virus has been set up. Loved ones with questions can call 859-899-0831.Employees will offer other ways for residents to communicate with their families."We can provide FaceTime, we can do Skype," Venis said. "We’re doing anything we can to reassure our folks that they can still have their visits even if it’s not a physical visit."
