HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — A train has derailed in downtown Harrodsburg.
Photos from a Harrodsburg couple show multiple train cars off the tracks.
No one was injured in the derailment and no hazardous materials were involved, according to firefighters.
Neighbors in the area said they're used to the loud noise of trains passing through town multiple times a day, but this was different.
"It sounded like a big old giant can crushing and then all you heard was a big boom because it fell over," said Desiree Jeffries.
Taylor Lewis was parking her car in the area when she was shocked by what she felt.
"It rumbled like you could feel it underneath your feet like almost like an earthquake," Taylor Lewis said.
Police blocked off several roads as the crews worked to clear the tracks.
"Every main street just blocked off, cut off, you can't get through," Lewis said. "No way through in or out."
Neighbors said they were told the cleanup could go well into the night.
