FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The name of the person killed in a head-on crash in Floyd County on Tuesday morning has been released.
The crash happened on Highway 321 near Highlands Regional Medical Center. Investigators said that Donald R. Tackett Jr. of Pikeville was killed in the crash.
Police said that Tackett crossed the center line and hit an SUV driven by Deputy Kevin Johnson.
Johnson was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Johnson had his K9 Lita in the vehicle with him, but she did not suffer any injuries.
Police said weather and poor road conditions were contributing factors in the cause of the crash.
