LAS VEGAS (LEX 18) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's name came up during a gun safety forum featuring Democratic presidential candidates in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Some differences emerged with Beto O'Rourke calling out Pete Buttigieg by name for not supporting a mandatory assault weapons buyback as an immediate priority.
Cory Booker claimed that nobody can represent the Democratic party in large cities if they do not support gun license requirements.
But, all candidates agreed that defeating President Donald Trump is mandatory to moving forward with gun safety laws.
Senator Elizabeth Warren directly called out Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell.
"I think, Mitch McConnell and the republicans and Donald Trump are impeding our ability to do what needs to be done on gun safety," said Warren.
This forum happened just after the second anniversary of the concert massacre in Las Vegas.
