LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — During today's AMVETS convention, President Trump signed an executive order that will relieve disabled veterans of student loan debt.

Many of the 50,000 vets who are qualified for student loan forgiveness have received the benefits only after a lengthy application process.

Today's executive order directs the government to create an expedited process for those who apply.

The order, said President Trump, will "eliminate every penny of federal student loan debt owed by American veterans who are completely and permanently disabled."

The president added "nobody can complain about that."
