CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Clark County Animal Shelter is getting a much-needed boost in donations on Saturday.

This is because the Winchester Elks Lodge held a fundraising breakfast for the shelter on Saturday morning.

The All-You-Can-Eat buffet-style benefit only cost $8 per person.

The benefit featured everything from pancakes and sausage to biscuits and homemade gravy.

100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the animal shelter.

The director said that the cash is crucial during this time of the year.

"There's lots of different reasons why, but we always see an increase in the number of animals in our care this time of the year," said Adreanna Wills. "Lots of people surrendering pets in addition to the normal strays that we're picking up. This time of year especially we're always in need of donations."

The Elks Lodge hosts these fundraising breakfasts on the first Saturday of every month during the Winter.

In February, the lodge is supporting the Homeless Coalition and New Beginnings.
