LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mitch Barnhart has announced that there will be no alcohol sales at UK football games this fall.

This announcement came a few months after the SEC vote to lift its conference wide ban on alcohol sales in their stadiums. In the past, SEC athletic programs have been prohibited from selling alcohol in public areas of SEC athletics venues.

The new policy requires any SEC institution choosing to permit alcohol sales at athletic events to establish policies governing the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages consistent with requirements established and agreed to by the Conference membership. Texas A&M, LSU and Arkansas will permit alcohol sales.

UK joins Auburn, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina as the schools that will not join in the sale of adult beverages at games.
