LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Authorities have reported "multiple fatalities" in a fiery crash on Interstate Highway 75 in Lexington that continues to snarl traffic on the major roadway hours later.

The crash was reported about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes near mile marker 111, just south of the southern split with Interstate Highway 64.

Officials tell LEX 18 that three vehicles were involved and that "multiple fatalities" resulted. The identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

The northbound lanes remained closed Wednesday morning at mile marker 110., as well as the entrance ramp from Winchester Road to I-75 and I-64.

An accident reconstruction team was working at the scene, but officials could not say when the roadway would be fully reopened.

The crash comes just a day after a semi fire shut down I-64 for hours just past the northern split.
